Ashmeadow Barn - Planning permission for barn extension in Hayle, Cornwall

The Brief – to provide additional open plan living space that is well connected to a private and sunny patio.  A new wing would provide a Master Bedroom with Ensuite.  The extension was designed to not dominate the original single storey barn conversion.  It would be finished externally with granite walls and natural slate roof, but be light and airy with an open plan layout internally.

The Design – to meet the brief, a traditional granite addition with matching detailing was designed with a central green roof and traditional raised roof lantern to flood the main living area extension with natural light.  Large bi-folding doors open out from the Living Area onto the patio spilling out to the garden.  An additional wing mirrors the existing to provide a Master Bedroom with Ensuite with vaulted ceiling and oak truss.  The extension sits comfortably against the original traditional granite barn giving the appearance it has always been there….. !

Planning consent and building regulations approval was granted in 2012 and works began in late 2013.  The extension was finished in 2014 with the finishing touches to the landscaping recently completed!

‘Cornwall Architectural Design did a wonderful job designing the extension for my barn conversion, it’s almost finished and I love it already, I would thoroughly recommend their services!'  Nigel (Feb 2013).
